2 Briarwood Avenue G31RM Bury St. Edmunds Suffolk IP33 3QF England 24th January 1995 To all members of the group I am writing to tell you that Jim Mortensen N2HOS who publishes the magazine Digital Journal on behalf of the American Digital Radio Society is interested in coherent c.w. and has offered to help in its promotion. He has suggested that I write a column for the Journal every two months and that I discontinue the Newsletter which has proved to be expensive to distribute consisting as it does of only one sheet of paper. Most of the expense has been in postages. The column in the Journal will be about 1500 words long or about the same length as the Newsletter. The obvious advantage of this new arrangement is that many more amateurs around the world will get to hear about coherent c.w. The Newsletter has always been distributed at my own expense with the help of donations from the members. As you know I have not kept any record of cash received and hope that none of you feels you have been robbed. In compensation Jim has offered to send each of you three free issues of the Digital Journal (March 1995 will probably be the first) and he will be offering you a reduced subscription to the Society for the first year. Unfortunately this does not apply if you are already a member of the American Digital Radio Society. The Journal is published monthly. The Digital Journal is an excellent magazine and full of interesting items if you like the digital modes. As c.w. (and coherent c.w.) can now be sent and received by means of a computer the method of operation is very much like r.t.t.y., amtor, pactor and clover. It is still the most basic digital mode which justifies its inclusion in a magazine* devoted to digital modes in general. I hope you will enjoy the free issues of the Journal and will send in your subscription. Here is an ideal opportunity to put coherent c.w. before the amateur fraternity. , I hope it now becomes popular. Thank you for your support i-n the past. 73 'I
