CCWN 76:76 PCF-2 WITHDRAWN Ray and Woody have made tests on the prototype version of the PCF-2 and have found some problems. The decision has been to discontinue distribution of the PCF-2 and return to the PCF-l. Ray expects to have a revised version of the PCF-I available shortly. PROGRAMMABLE KEYERS'?'? Does anyone have a AUTEK Programmable CMOS Keyer? It is advertised for $100 and I was wondering if it could be converted to CCW. I wrote the company but they refuse to send me a circuit diagram or discuss possible modifications. If someone has one, would you send me a copy of the diagram so l can examine the possibility of its use in CCW. Woody A CCW RECEIVER? Ray Petit has on the drawing boards a high-performance synthesized receiver designed for CCW. He is considering the possibility of making such a receiver available in module form. A key question is the market for such a piece of equipment. If you are interested, write Ray a note. The degree of interest expressed will be a factor in his decision as to whether to proceed with the project or not. DIOLN on CCW Rein Couperusz DJOLN, PAORCT reports he has his CCW rig on the air. His transmitter is a HW8 with a I kHz spacing 100 channel synthesizer. His frequency calibrator is a temperature compensated 100 kHz Xtal checked against Droitwich at 200 kHz. His coherent keyer consists of a SN7474 operated by a hand key. He is using a simplified version of the Petit filter, with only one integrator and four oD-amDS . So far operation has been all on 80 meters. Rein keeps a regular sked with PAOAGA and PAORDT who are also interested in CCW. NEWS ABOUT THE PCF-I Arrangements have been made with Smith-Root. Inc., 14014 N. E. Salmon Creek Ave, Vancouver, WA 98665 to manufacture the Petit PCF-1 filter. Plans are that a complete and tested filter will be available for about $125. You may write to Smith-Root and they will inform you of the price and delivery dates.
