         AN IMPROVED VERSION OF THE ORIGINAL PETIT FILTER
         
    * Wired and tested at the factory__housed in an attractive
         Pomona "Blue Box" and ready to operate.
         
    * Fixed center frequency of 1000 Hz and fixed bit rate of
         10 bits/sec are derived from externally-supplied l-MHz
         reference signal.
         
    * Output pitch of 500 Hz provides comfortable listening.
    
    * Improved "amplitude only" output stages eliminate the
         steady popping sound which is otherwise produced by
         phase drifts of the incoming signal~.
         
    * Diode threshold circuits eliminate residual steady tone
         output when no signal is present at input, and reduce
         pulsing effects due to noise.
         
    * AGC output compatible with 1590-type i.f. amplifiers.
    
    * Uses improved 4066 analog switches throughout and MoSFET
         operational amplifiers in the integrate-sampleXhold
         sections: no balancing adjustments required.
