Publicity :::: Paul Rinaldo has given us a note in 9EX and Pat Hawker included a paragraph in Radcom. George Dobbs will be printing a short note by me in the next issue of Sprat. My thanks to all three for their help. Members :::: The following amateurs have expressed an interest in c.c.w. and it is hoped that they will soon be busy building equipment and will let se know from time to tine how they are progressing. be welcome. Canada JOT 2BO Information sheets :::: I intend to follow ay present practice of collecting any information which will be useful for c.c.w. and will sake it available as photocopies. To keep the cost of this news sheet down circuits will not be included but will be available separately. The following new sheets are available; II.Audio synthesiser for c.c.w. by 63IRM - unpublished. Output covers 2600 to 3400 Hz in 4 Hz steps which provides inputs of 650 to B50 Hz in I Hz steps in the filter. This has only been tested with a simulated c.c.w. signal but it looks as though it will be satisfactory. (4 pages) 13.New frequency standard by VE30BE published in Northern Observer Newsletter (Canada). A very simple 4 Mhz temperature controlled frequency standard with a high degree of stability. (4 pages) Photocopies are five pence per page - stamps acceptable for small amounts. Operating frequencies :::: It has been suggested that U.K. operation start on 7030 KHz plus or minus VXO and that the eost suitable band for d.x. will be 30 setres. Woodsen newsletters :::: .... Does anyone have copies of these for 1976 onwards or does anyone know who has any copies? I would very such like to borrow thee for copying. I wjll return thee and take whatever is useful available as information sheets. The sheets I do not have are 76.74 76.75 76.76 and all after 76.98. News from members :::: 63CCH:John now has copies of some of the information sheets and will, hopefully, start building soon. 63FMW:John has, like se, built for c.c.w. some years ago and abandoned the idea when he found there was no activity. He still has his original board and will be removing the cobwebs. He hopes to get it working again. He has kindly loaned se what appears to be the complete first year's issues of the Woodsen c.c.w. newsletters and I as extracting all that will be useful and will list the articles available in the next news. Much relates to the original Petit board which has since been modified but there is still a lot of good material available. John would like to try c.c.w. on 50 MHz - anyone else interested? G@) I RM: I have completed the VE30BE keyboard, the filter and an experimental audio synthesiser to drive the filter. 63RHI:Bert has also built the keyboard, standard and part of the filter and is continuing to complete the filter. 6')XVR: Danny is interested in FSK an c.c.w. - anyone interested in joining his? He has sent lie some early correspondence and data. Some call signs are mentioned and I intend to try to contact the owners to see if they are still interested. G3SYC:Geoff now has copies of the sore important information sheets and it looks as though he will be building soon. GWOKZW:Alun has applied for information and hopes to start building. VE30BE: Bill is by far the most advanced havino operated c.c.w. in the old days. In a letter to Bert he says he is getting his c.c.w. equipment out and will seeing if it still works. What is more important to us in the U.K. he is hoping to put a c.c.w. beacon on the air in the near future. It appears that this will be on the air 24 hours a day but this has still to be confirmed. As soon as I hear the beacon is operational I will let you all know. His suggested frequency for transatlantic contacts is 30 metres. Raymond Petit W7GHM :::: .... Does anyone have a U.S. call book? If so I would appreciate the present address of Ray Petit so that I can write to his. I feel sure he will be interested to know that we are trying to get his system working again.
